K-POP OBSESSION

As a preteen, I was obsessed with K-pop (Korean Pop) which a few years later suddenly burst into fads. How do I get trapped in this fandom?

One midnight, I was awake. I couldn’t fall asleep. So, what did 12 years old me do? Watching tv. Yup... As I was switching the channel, this handsome, cute guy appear on the screen with a few of older dudes. Fell for his good looking face, I strive to find out who the guy was.  The next day, I will wait till midnight so that my parents fall deeply into sleep then  I will watched the tv and tuning in to KBS World channel to find out about the program. To no avail, my effort was hopeless. About a week after, I found out the name of the program. It is 2 Days 1 Night. I am sure most of you know the program. And that charming man’s name is Lee Seunggi.
Since then I was obsessed with the program as it is hilarious. Soon after I discovered Music Bank Show. My obsession with K-pop (Korean pop) started. In my preteen,I spend most of my time listening to K-pop and watching Korean variety shows.

I used to collect Korean theme magazine named “e-pop”. Every month, I would bought one from my
My precious prize.
grandmother’s bookstore. There were couples of time, I would bought two for various reason. For instance, my favourite idol was on the cover and to have a higher chances to win the contest.  Thanks to my grandmother, I once won a DVD from one of the contest. It is a Korean movie named ‘Postman To Heaven”. I am more into music than movie. So,I wasn’t really interested until… I found out who the actor was. It was Kim Jeajoong! Fyi, my favourite idol of all time is TVXQ . I would literally spent my days watching and listening to their songs. I was enthusiastically waiting for the prize. I would listen to k-pop every hours and searching for new songs. TVXQ and JYJ will always be in my heart. They are my savior as I spent part of my years listening and following news about them. They helped in such many ways. Tuning in to their produces stopped me from overthinking.  I must admit it made me negligence at my responsibility as a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter and most importantly as Allah’s servant.

That was years ago. Now, I stopped completely purchasing the magazine as it is a waste of money. Instead, I spent my money on Islamic theme magazines such as Iman,al- Ustaz, i and Solusi which are full of information. Looking back, I felt contrite about wasting my precious time. After the “accident”, I am endeavour to change.  I constantly offered my help to my mother. I helped her cooking and folding the clothes. I also love to watch Korean variety show with my siblings. I have two cats. Rather than spending most of my time listening to K-pop, I spend my time to play with my cats. Oh yeah, also with my cousins. I love them to death. Ever since the twins,my cousin were born, I couldn’t helped but fall into their cuteness. I can officially say that I wasn't obsessed with K-pop anymore. I do sometime tuning to it if my favourite idol made a comeback.

An eid's envelopes that I will always keep on my table back home since 2010.

One day, maybe I will write about the “accident” that change me and about my cousins that I love. Thank you.

Do you want to know what happened to all of the E-pop megazines, that I spent most of my money to... My freaking big brother burnt it! All of it! Huhuhu~~~
